All About
Damien Hensen
I'm a Software Engineering student from the Netherlands.
I've been interested in software since I was a kid. What started as an interest in game development eventually turned into web development, internships, professional work, and a bunch of side projects I'll probably never finish.
Most of my time is spent building things, learning new technologies, and figuring out how systems work, whether that's a website, an API, a deployment pipeline, or something completely unrelated.

The Journey
Started MBO Application & Media Development
Originally planned to become a game developer, but switched to web development after learning more about the industry.
First Internship at 80sInteractive
Worked on a website builder using Laravel and jQuery UI and gained my first professional development experience.
Front-end Internship at Brick Zero
Worked with WordPress, maintained websites, and built custom blocks using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Graduated from MBO
Completed the Application & Media Development program and started working professionally as a developer.
Briefly Studied Physiotherapy
Tried a completely different career path before deciding software development was the better fit.
Started HBO Software Engineering
Returned to software and began the Software Engineering program at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences.
Full-Stack Developer at 80sInteractive
Worked on webshops, e-learning platforms, tax systems, and deployment automation using Laravel and Nuxt.
Russian Minor
Took a detour into a Russian minor before returning to finish the Software Engineering program.
Final Year of HBO Software Engineering
Currently focused on completing my degree, building personal projects, and preparing for the next step in my software engineering career.
